WHAT IS THE PENNSYLVANIA ARTS EXPERIENCE?
The Pennsylvania Arts Experience is a non-profit arts organization promoting the arts along the scenic river valleys of southeastern Pennsylvania. We are committed to establishing an internationally recognized arts destination by marketing a membership of creative artists and venues throughout the Artist Trail, our website, and regional Arts Orientation Centers.

WHAT IS THE PAE ARTIST TRAIL?
The PAE Artist Trail, following the Route 30/Route 113 corridor between York, PA and New Hope, PA, is one of several driving trails being developed along Pennsylvania’s rural roadways, funded in part and initiated by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development. Based on the success of the “HandMade in America” Craft Heritage Trails of North Carolina and its profound impact on that state’s economy, Pennsylvania’s artist trails will hopefully have a similar effect in attracting arts-minded travelers and patrons to visit the state from around the globe by providing exclusive access to the studios of Pennsylvania’s many talented artists and artisans, as well as the many extraordinary museums, galleries, historic inns, bed and breakfasts, scenic, heritage and cultural attractions located here.

WHERE IS THE PAE ARTIST TRAIL LOCATED?PAE ARTIST TRAIL Map
Just a few hours driving distance fromNew York City and Washington, D.C. and minutes from Philadelphia, the southeastern region of Pennsylvania served exclusively by the PAE Artist Trail is particularly rich in artistic and cultural heritage. Each of the trail’s three scenic regions (Susquehanna Valley, Brandywine/Schuylkill Valley, and Delaware Valley) has its own unique artistic legacy and is home to some of the nation’s most prominent and influential artists throughout history including the New Hope School of American Impressionism, The Wyeth Dynasty and Brandywine School, and Charles Demuth as well as many extraordinary art museums including the James A. Michener Art Museum, the Brandywine River Museum, Philip and Muriel Berman Art Museum, Lancaster Museum of Art and Demuth Museum to name a few.

WHAT DOES THE TRAIL FEATURE?
In addition, this region is teaming with a wide array of contemporary painters, weavers, quilters, printmakers, potters, glassblowers, woodworkers, etc., many with national or international reputations, working in unique and spectacular studios located in renovated barns or adaptively reused buildings in the small towns along the way. In addition to offering museums, galleries and studios with public hours, the PAE Artist Trail features exclusive “behind-the-scenes” tours of many of these artists’ studios not usually open to the public, allowing the visitor to interact with the artists and gain insight into their creative process, as well as providing the opportunity to help support the artists’ creative work through the direct purchase of original works of art. WHAT SERVICES DOES THE TRAIL OFFER? Some additional features of the PA Arts Experience include an arts concierge service, available to personally assist in lining up studio visits and make suggestions for lodging, dining, museum and gallery hopping, shopping etc. and special overnight packages available through the spectacular Lancaster Arts Hotel.
