Benson Myrtil Lizard (Haiti Crying) 33"w x 20"h acrylic on canvas Benson Myrtil was born in 1965, in L’Artitonite, Haiti. At the age of 16, he went to Port au Prince to continue his education at the Juvenat College. After graduation, he practiced painting with Saincilus Ismael, and later with Michel-Ange Altidort in the Arbonite School. His first entry into art competition was in the Palais aux 365 portes in Petite Riv Arbonite, Haiti. Even before coming to the United States in 2002, his artwork was being shown in French Martinique, Africa, and many galleries in the United States. When he came to the states, he settled in Lancaster because of other family members in the area. He spent 2006 in Montreal, where he exhibited his art in private galleries.
