John David Wissler received his MFA in
1989 from Parsons School of Design in
New York, where he studied with Leland
Bell, John Heliker, Paul Resika, and Larry
Rivers. He also studied with George
Sorrels at Kutztown (PA) University,
where he received his BFA. He has
traveled and painted in France; Italy;
Russia; Switzerland; Germany; the Outer
Banks, North Carolina; and Cape Cod,
Massachusetts. His painterly and luminous
landscapes have been included in juried
and curated exhibits at such places
as the Susquehanna Art Museum,
Harrisburg, PA; Washington County
Museum of Fine Arts, Hagerstown, MD;
Roberson Museum, Binghamton, NY;
Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia,
PA; Lancaster (PA) Museum of Art;
Lancaster (PA) Galleries; and the Furlong
Art Gallery at the University of Wisconsin.
His work can be found in the collection
of the Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence,
Pennsylvania Historic and Museum
Commission, Kutztown University and
the Hershey Chocolate Corporation
to name a few.
