Eileen France, a Pennsylvania native, graduated with a degree in Biology from Immaculata University. This prepared her to be a junior high science teacher before raising a family. During busy child rearing years she was able to utilize snippets of time to follow her interest in art by taking classes at the PA College of Art and Design and local art associations. After experimenting with various media she found that pastel was the most challenging and creative for her.

She considers study and learning to be a life long pursuit and continues to take annual workshops in the United States and Europe with master pastel artists. Many of her paintings begin as plein aire studies during her travels. These are later completed or serve as inspiration for studio work. A side benefit of workshops is the picturesque venues in which they occur and the friendships that are formed with kindred spirits.

Her work has been well received and she has exhibited across the United States in national and international juried shows. Recently she was elected to signature status in the Pastel Society of America.
