Kathryn Young Deaville Chester County Courthouse Oil 16 x 20 inches Kathryn Young Deaville expresses a keen interest in the built environment in her oil paintings of West Chester, PA and other local Chester County scenes. Having studied architecture at Miami University, University of Pennsylvania and the Architectural Association of London, England, she has had a career as an architect in both Cleveland, Ohio and Philadelphia, PA. Now she uses canvas to interpret the unique character of the buildings and streetscapes of south-eastern Pennsylvania. Her paintings express the play of light and shadow on the architectural forms that make up our towns and cities. Ms. Deaville paints with color pastel as well as oil and also completes portraits on commission. She has shown her artwork at the Visual Expansion Gallery, Immaculata University , Chester County Historical Society, Chester County Art Association, Daylesford Abbey, Chester Springs Studio, Delaware Valley Art League, Lukens Steel and Salon des Amis Gallery among others .
